A little more about me

Meeting you with curiosity, good self-care, and a strong cup of coffee.

I believe in mindfulness, and I also believe it's nearly impossible to be mindful all the time. I try to approach the world with curiosity and compassion, and I'd love to do the same with you.

Monti Pal, LPC, a mindfulness-based counselor in Austin, Texas

Approach

A mind-body approach to healing.

I focus on helping clients identify and attain their own personal goals in therapy. I believe in empowering clients while compassionately guiding them through the process. Therapy is collaborative, and while it isn't a quick fix, it is a genuine path toward accepting your emotions, building coping skills, and embracing all that life brings.

I work with people facing many different concerns, including anxiety and depression. I have particular experience with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and trauma; with people who are highly self-critical; and with individuals and couples navigating infertility. I offer affirming care for the LGBTQIA+ community. My graduate report focused on domestic violence in the LGBT community.

Experience

Where I've worked.

Before private practice, I worked at SafePlace supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and at the Bowie High School College & Career Center, where I provided academic counseling and co-facilitated an adolescent grief support group.

I've also worked in clinical settings: a community mental health center (Bluebonnet MHMR, Round Rock) and a psychiatric hospital (Rock Springs), supporting people living with severe psychiatric illness including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and recurrent depression.

A few fun facts

The non-boring stuff.

I'm a lover of animals, food, my family, kindness, travel, and new experiences. I'm a musician at heart and still play a little piano. I attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston.

And once upon a time I earned a Bachelor's in Computer Science and headed toward AI research. That was a lifetime ago. I couldn't write a line of code to save my life now.
